I do, only if it means that things will improve as a result.

Ok that's bizarre. No I get excited at the prospect of some order & peace coming to the planet for a change. I've seen more than enough chaos & tragedy. I'd be happy if we could just relax & enjoy the beauty of the world for a day without something to stress out about. We need to get close to nature again.
Please don't pray for murder, mayhem & economic collapse! I have a mortgage to pay. I just want to relax & be safe & calm. Right now it seems like a pretty distant prospect but I'm hopeful it can happen...

You may want to rethink that. In the scenario you propose, the Western world would face the greatest suffering. Being reliant on technology, we don't have the foggiest in how to survive without the artificial political, economic and technological systems.
Countries like the US would be "cavemanlike" in no time. Other nations are far more prepared to deal with such a collapse. Most areas of the US would collapse as they are built infrastructures that could not be sustained. Entire states would collapse due to their dependence.
People thrust into desperate situations, also turn to desperate acts. Your safety and security then comes into jeopardy.
As they say, careful what you wish for.

I do get a bit excited when something out of the ordinary happens. I enjoy for the world to throw out something new and unexpected now and then to break the monotony. But chaos? I can't say that I would delight in that. And I certainly don't delight in the suffering of others. I CAN say that alot of times these occurrances do have the ability to shake people out of their comfort zones, and begin to look at things in a new way, though. The world needs to be shaken now and then, for people to realize that there are more important things out there. It is sad that it usually takes a disaster for that to happen, though. Perhaps there will be a day when people do not need something so drastic to remember the things that truly matter about life.

When I was a little girl, I prayed I would have more excitement in my life than my grandmother. She seemed very boring to me.
What I didn't know was that she lost a husband in WWII while living in Hungary, her home and land was taken away from her by the Russian soldiers, she was forced to go on a train to somewhere where they had no clue (later discovered it was Germany because they spoke German; Austrian Hungarian former Barons) Her youngest daughter died of TB and her oldest son died of superstitions (he was probably ADHD, but the family said he had the devil in him when he was born and left him in a room to die. She said she was very sad and it hurt her a great deal watching him).
She was glad to be with her youngest son and his family in her late life and was happy to be at peace.
In my life, I have been married twice. The first man had many women and gave me a VD. Fortunately, I got it under control. I married my second husband who was an alcoholic and abusive (I guess I must have looked for this in guys?) He killed himself after I left him, but he did it in front of my son when he was visiting and he has never been the same since. I long for the day where I am happy and content and have peace and less excitment.
Be careful what you wish for. It just may come true and you won't be happy about the consequences when it happens to you.

To tell you the truth, I am kind of like that. I won't go as far as to pray for another 9/11, but I do get excited by those things. I feel bad about it, but I can't help it. I know if 9/11 killed someone I loved or even knew, I would obviously feel terrible. However, since I wasn't directly effected by it, I'm intrigued by it which, in turn makes me excited about it. It's horrible, but I can't help it.

i'm not really excited that things like this will happen. i'm kind of agitated when something chaotic happens, and i feel strong emotions. when i heard about the 9/11, i cried, cause i thought it was a horrible thing. when i saw saddam hussein's execution video, i felt bad. and when i hear horrible things happening around the world, i feel mxed emotions. but when i hear stories of the chaotic things that happened earlier before, like ww1 and ww2, and the bombing of nagasaki, i thought what would itbe like if i was there, experiencing it.

We all love disasters; usually as long as we are not involved, but are spectators.
