I agree with the comments of the first man. I picked Ricky Johnson because I he was the man when I was a teenager and at that time he had to compete against Ward, Bailey, and a whole list of champions.

well this is a hard one to answer. Ive been racing motocross for 33years and seen a lot of great champions..De Coster Hannah Ricky Johnson Bailey and of course Ricky. Is too hard to pick one really. I use to say Roger De Coster for this question but now im not sure. He was the first truly professionally rider accepted by the masses in the US as he was a multiple 500cc world champ and took it the AMA riders. Im sure this is like asking bodybuilders who is the best of all time. Arnold schwarzenegger is probably the bench mark though some others have beaten his records. In moto gp i would say Rossi first, Doohan second...as im an aussie too!!!

Not to mention the guy is riding off into the sunset and leaving titles in his wake.
The guy could easily own the Outdoor title for the next couple years at least and maybe another 1 or 2 SX titles.

I just went to Red Bud this past weekend to see him race for the last time (for me) and it was absolutely incredible to think that he has put the kind of dedication he has into one sport.
Not to mention he is juggling being a new dad to twins and starting a NASCAR career.
The guy is a straight up stud. I don't think there will ever be anyone match his work ethic.

The only reason you can't think of any other champions in this era is simply because Ricky hasn't allowed anyone else to BE champion! Now that's true greatness!

RC all the way. The stats prove it, and he's a hell of a classy man. Never has anything gone to his head, he's dedicated, and isn't flashy. He shows/showed up, did his job, went home, practiced, and did it again every week for over a decade. Now that's dedication!
