I'm a theatre student and my emphasis is in theatrical makeup so I got you covered here! And my way is QUICK too! You need only 5 things for a smoky eye:
1. Black eyeliner
2. One dark eye shadow (charcoal, dark grey, etc.)
3. One light eye shadow (white, light grey, etc.)
4. Black mascara
5. Smudger or Q-tip
Here's the easy steps, once you have your foundation on:
1. Start with your eyeliner first. Apply directly to the upper and lower eyelids (not heavily, but a decent amount). Use a smudger or Q-tip and GENTLY smudge the liner upward slightly and out to the tip of the eye.
2. Next, take your dark shadow. Look carefully at your eye. The dark shadow goes from the crease where the eye opens to the lashes. Spread evenly from center of the eye near the nose to the outer tip.
3. Next, take the light shadow. Use you eye shadow bush and gently blend the dark shadow upward to the eyebrows, leaving a faint hint of shadow near the brows. Blend this until it looks like an even transition from dark to light. You donot want a line!
4. Apply your mascara to the top and bottom lashes, avoiding clumps. I recommend a liquid mascara.
5. Also, you might want to be daring and try some false eyelashes. They are easy to apply, and if you ahve trouble, take them to a local beauty salon and have them put on for you when you get your hair done (they'll usually do it for no charge!). If not, find a mascara that extends lashes (i.e. Revlon Fabu-lash mascara with the double end).
Honey, anyone can look good with the smokey eye effect.......as long as it is done well and done properly. If you ever second guess yourself on how to do it, take your supplies to a mall makeup counter (i.e. Clinique) and ask them to do it for you to show you how. As long as you already have the supplies, they'l do it for NO charge at all! Hope this helps girl!

in order to achieve the “smokey eyes” look you must select dark, neutral colors. black eyeliner with gray eye shadow will work well for the smokey eyes appearance. first, line your eyes with a black eye liner pencil. make sure you line both top and bottom paying close attention to lining around the natural eyelid contour. you can use concealer under your eyes with a thick coat of powder that will catch any excess eye shadow, which will later be brushed away so you don't get the dark
after you line your eyes carefully smudge the liner in the outer corners to soften the line. then apply a thin line of black eye shadow over your eyeliner to further soften the look and create a stronger contrast. next apply your eye shadow all over your eyelid, use a charcoal shadow or a neutral brown. now top it off with black mascara and neutral lipstick and blush colors. smokey eyes are a popular for evenings or “night on the town” adventures.

The trick to making the smokey eye design work for your skin tone is to choose eyeshadows that complement it.
Warm skin tones look best w/ warm colors - colors that have a yellow undertone. Warm toned people look better w/ gold jewelry & the veins on their wrists have a greenish cast.
Cool skin tones look best w/ cool colors - colors that have a blue undertone. Cool toned people look better w/ silver jewelry & the veins on their wrists have a blue appearance.

Smokey eyes work on anyone. For your skin tone I would use a deep violet instead of black or grey. Even brown would work.
(Black often looks too harsh.)
Also, less is more!

smokey eyes look nice on every1 as long as its done nicely
apply a dark eye pencil or eye shadow on the lower part of the upper lid near the lashes. spread it evenly. use either metallic grey or black with shimmer on top. apply a lighter colour in the middle of the eye and frosty white or silver under the brow line. apply black liquid eye liner on the upper lash line and pencil liner on the lower lash line. finish with mascara on both upper and lower lashes

you pick four colors (grays or purple-y grays or browns for a lighter look) and use the darkest as an eyeliner. then use the next darkest one until the crease. then the next one blends in and goes to just below the eyebrow and the lightest(should be shimmery) goes on the sides and top s a highlighter to the best part (they look good on everyone as long as they are done right)

First, dip your eye brush in a little bit of water and dip it back in your eyeshadow. kind of stir it around a little bit. Put the shadow a little bit over your eyelash line and go up as high as you want to. Put a little bit under your eye too, just not too much.
