Lets see, he's had DUI, marijuana, and reckless driving convictions. He got stopped going over 100 mph with marijuana, and several prescription drugs that he has no prescription for. But, he's never gone to jail.

Ken, you should have read the article I cited, it's short. For his first marijuana conviction in 2003 "The youngest of Al and Tipper Gore's four children then completed substance abuses classes as a pretrial diversion program, before settling the charges." So much for drug treatment.

If it has been Paris Hilton, there would be serious jail time.

I want to know how he got a Prius up to 100 m.p.h.

Sounds like he wasn't the only one on weed.

The treatment Gore's kid got is no more special than that doled out to any other child of money.

Paris' case is different. She got her license suspended for DUI, then drove on the suspended license and got probation, then got caught violating her probation by driving on the suspended license again.

Even in California, there's a limit to how much slack a court will cut a celebrity. Three court appearances stemming from the same violation were enough to convince the judge that she wasn't getting the message.

Being sentenced to a year of using a chauffer isn't unreasonable for an heiress with a DUI. If she 'd waited out the suspension and then got busted for DUI, she would have gotten a suspension again. And no time. But two violations of the Court's order in less than a year were too much.

The moral? Even if you're rich, famous and gorgeous--when the court cuts you a break, respect it.

Look. I am a Conservative. And I want to say Drug and Alcohol Addiction does not care What party you belong to.
Very good people get caught up.
I know. Years ago I've been there.
So I don't judge. I just hope he is ready to get the treatment he needs. He will pay a heavy price for what he did. And I hope he sticks with the program the Judge outlines. These charges are done by statute, not favors.
I pray he is ready to get the help he needs, and wish him a long and happy life in Recovery. His story may help someone else someday.
I don't care much for Al Gore. But Drug Addiction on a young adult is a tough battle.
I wish him well...
It's no ones fault if they are a Drunk or Addict. It is their Responsibility to do something about it.

Kimmy...It takes an average of 5 tries at recovery to actually have success. Most on their first try do it to get out of jail, not to recover. Cut folks some slack. Also, what 21 year old kid thinks they have a problem. I stand by my answer 110%.
