People should celebrate on the drop of a hat. Take celebration away and what do you have, more of what you talk about. Celebration brings happiness and if people want to celebrate going to the bathroom or blinking, well then KNOCK YOURSELVES OUT!!! You really don't need any excuse to celebrate and people don't need more haters in the world. PEOPLE - STOP THE HATE!!!!! PLEASE

This day is dedicated to the publication of our divorce decree from Great Britain. It was a document which still rings true after 231 years and is admired for its clarity by people throughout the world as a truly revolutionary piece of writing.
As for your last comment, the President never uttered those words. The banner displayed across the island of that caircraft carrier referred to their Carrier Battle Group accomplishing its mission.

So we should not celebrate because not everything is the way YOU would want it to be! That is a little bit on the tyrannical side I would say. Thank God we live in the USA and not under some tyrannical regime.
Happy Fourth.

WE celebrate this day in memory of signing the declaration of Independence. We True Americans celebrate this day to remember where we came from. What we as a country have over come. We celebrate that fact that we have freedoms, like the freedom of speech to express our feelings no matter what. WE celebrate this day because we are AMERICAN and PROUD.

you have valid points, however, if we just focus on the negative things this day and age brings, then we spit on OUR forefathers, our Great Great etc. Grandparents, who fought in WWI, 2, Vietnam, The Gulf, now Iraq; Who had it way worse then we do today....Your Great Great Grandmother who used a washboard to clean her clothes instead of a $900.00 washing machine, and had no air conditioning or frost free refrigerator....If we don't have celebrations as to how we are sitting here on our Computers connected to the World, how we got here, if our Forefathers didn't do what they did, securing our independence, who knows what kind of life we'd all be having today.......If we throw in the towel and say to hell with it, then all they worked for is for nothing, and the "bad elements" win.....No way!
