I'm afraid that I'm gonna have to trump "kr_toronto" on this one. You absolutely cannot use a Fido sim card in a Rogers phone. It is true that they are both owned by the same parent company and both use GSM technology, however all of the Rogers phones are subsidy locked to accept Rogers wireless SIM cards only, and will only display a message of "subsidy lock" if a Fido SIM card is inserted. Likewise with the Fido phones which will only work with Fido SIM cards.

Even though Rogers and Fido at the moment are the same manufacturer they operate as though they were separate. Fido and Rogers each lock most of their telephones; a telephone that is locked to Rogers will not work with a Fido SIM card and vice versa. Of direction, if you'll find an unlocked cellphone, or use an unlocking provider, that is not an trouble. Are attempting asking Fido - they may be ready to offer you a greater deal as the other poster urged. You would additionally purchase an unlocked phone from 7-Eleven or Petro-Canada and sell the SIM that comes with it. Word that their newer telephones are locked to Rogers, although.

Yes - they both use the same technology (as they are the same COMPANY). The difference is that they offer different "styles" of plans...

By transferring the card, it will allow you to keep things such as your old phone book, etc.

In theory, you could probably use it if you got your hands on an iPhone - but don't quote me on that ;););)
