Well, first if the system has a leak and there is low freon pressure, a sensor in the system will not let the compressor clutch to engage so there is a possible miss diagnosis. Sometimes the clutch might go bad on the compressor or the fuse could be blown. The condenser not working is due to no freon or blockage in the orifice.

Hope that helps

the first clue would be you are sweating.
however, if there is/was a leak you would first get very cold, then you would sweat.
low refrigerant causes the unit to get much colder, sometimes even freeze up with ice on it, until it gets too low to operate at all.
then again, on a hot day it may SEEM like it is not REALLY cold. You need to measure actual air temp out of the vent vs ambient air temp to determine if it is REALLY a problem

You can look under the hood to see if the compressor is turning. A shop would have to diagnose if you have enough refrigerant in the system though.

I work for an a/c company...

if ur a/c is not cooling then it is because of lack of freon or your just need to get ur unit serviced...have them clean ur coils and ur drain pan...

to check for a leak, put some soapy water in a spray bottle and spray it on ur lines...
