The five worst natural disasters in history are as follows:
Yellow River Flood-1931
Yellow River Flood-1887
Bhola Cyclone-1970
Yellow River Flood-1938
Shaanxi Earthquake-1556
What does this tell you, other than that the yellow river is not a good place to live if you have a fear of drowning?
The worst five natural disasters in human history did not occur in the last twelve years. In fact, only one of them occured in the last fifty. The same pattern is followed for wars, with the worst being World War 2, in which the civilian death toll was completely unimaginable.
There is nothing worse about the world now than in the past, it is simply that we have a greater understanding of it now because we see more of it on television, and if you ask me, this is a good thing. If you understand how terrible war is, you want to put a stop to it.

The Bible prophecies it. It is written that in the last days there will be more disasters, it's a sign. It may not necessarily be today, but we're towards the ending of the world.
TO ADD ON, lol, what the heck are people writing about that we have cnn, internet, etc and so we know about disaster in the world verses the past, a big fat DUH WHAT? What does that have to do with it? If we have the internet, and even before the internet information has been documented, we can look them up in books like encyclopedia or search on the internet. Then we'll know what disasters happened in the past. Maybe this guy did his homework, and for that reason is asking why more in these last 10 years or so. The world war was one entity, and so forth. We are now talking about a variety and a very numerous amount of happenings spaced close together. You people are all in the dark, you're sleeping.

I hold the opinion that it just appears this way. The media has now completely saturated the airwaves from around the globe. News travels very fast, 24/7. There have always been wars, multiple feuds concurrently, but no way to televise it. No way to transport the information...
How can you not contemplate your question with a satellite feed in your face all day?

Because the schools are not teaching you younger people history. (I can tell you are below 30 just from the question).
Hitler killed 4-5 million people. That's M-I-L-L-I-O-N not thousand.
Black plague wiped out a fourth of the population of Europe.
Study a little history and learn why men used to have many wives. (here's a hint-it had to do with war and the percent of men left to make to make husbands and replenish populations after the wars were over)

You mean since internet became mainstream... Increase communication capabilities have provide the illusion that we were overwhelmed with natural disasters, but I do agree on one thing, we have been overwhelmed with Terrorists attacks since 1995...

Must be global warming from all the CO2. If every liberal would breathe half as much as they do now it would lower the amount of CO2 people produce by enough to save the world. If Liberals would totally stop breathing it might also save Spock and all the Vulcans.
Live long and prosper, just don't breathe because that makes CO2.

Because you are too young to remember the ones before that and too young to figure out that that's the reason! Grow up and get wise.
