It seems to me, being from the US, that other world leaders, who supported Bush on his "war on terrorism" are waking up. They finally are seeing that you can't declare war on a tactic. This war started out as "Operation Iraqi Liberation," until they saw that the acronym spelled OIL! Well, I guess they didn't want the REAL reason to get out, but it did, and some of us have been telling people this from the beginning.
Bush is in this war to make war for his supporters, and nothing more. VP Cheney has more stock in Halliburton than god, and is making millions per second.
I just wish that the American Public would wake up, and see that this war was ill concieved, and never totally thought out.
There is a document on the website http://www.newamericancentury.org that states that the US must take over the Middle East, to get their oil, so that the corporations here can dominate the world.
This is a class war. The ruling class own the corporations, and we are becoming their slaves with globalization.

Why don't you find the book, "The Looming Tower"? Learn about the history that brought us to this time and these events.
I have a newspaper from 1956 and it has a story about an Egyptian mullah calling for jihad against England and France. He claimed that all Muslims must kill Brits and French people, all of them!
Do you drive a car? Do you grow and make everything you use off your own land or area? Then you are causing the need for oil, too. Get off your opinionated high horse and look at what's happening here!
The Saudis are still doing really well, aren't they? They are funding a lot of the "education" behind the jihad movement, so does Iran.
I'm in the US and I really appreciate Aussies. I hope I can come and visit your country some day.
Also, being female, we shouldn't take our right to education and equality in society so lightly. We are very fortunate people when compared to the rest of women and girls in the world.

Well, it's apparent that the Aussie government doesn't know the difference between Washington and Paris. Over 80% of Iraqi oil exports are contracted to Compagnie Petrol De Francais (French Oil Company). The reasons we carried out offensive action against the Ba'athist regime of Saddam Hussein are clearly laid out in Public Law # 107-243 passed by the U.S. Congress in 2002, entitled as Authorization For Use of Force Against Iraq.
Those reasons are repeats of the ones contained in Public Law #105-338 which passed in 1998 and was called the Iraq Liberation Act. Perhaps the good folks in the Canberra "Bee Hive" can instruct its ambassador in Washington to fetch some copies from Capitol Hill and send them "down under" via diplomatic pouch.

Yes im australian and just read it and am totally confused, as our papers [news.com.au] are usually conservative. Now the front page declares we are in iraq for oil,and [theage.com.au] states that the australian guy that just got arrested in connection the bombings in the uk had just borrowed his sim card to those nasty fellows.Total change of tune.
Now down the road all these us navy ships have landed and we have us flags on the front page?

I really don't believe it is all about oil.not this time.Iran has one reason, and one reason alone to gain nuclear capabilities. That is to annihilate Israel off the planet. We must intervene to stop another holocaust. If the rest of the world believes that oil is the driving force of the American war machine then the hell with them,we can do it alone if need be.Watch who comes crying with their heads hanging low when the s.h.i.t. hits the fan though.

The Australian Minister of Defence said that energy security was simply a factor in the decision. If you have a link to your
story, I'd like to read it.

I am not sure what your question is, but I would take any one opinion with a grain of salt. It is an opinion after all. Please cite the sources that the Aussie gov. used to make their decision.
