I can't stand people that believe something is great because of it's brand, especially when it's crappy. Starbucks coffee sucks. I bet it would lose big time in a blind taste test. I don't know how many times I've had to explain to Apple dorks that the Ipod was not the first MP3 player (and that yes indeed, others exist). Now people are shelling out hundreds for the Iphone (plus $60/mo for AT&T service). More like Igotrippedoff!

Revolutionary? The wheel was revolutionary. The vacuum tube and the microchip were revolutionary.
The iPhone is a fancy phone that you probably cannot operate with one hand and while watching the road as you drive (not that you should be doing this, but people do, and people want to be able to do this).
We are sheep --- we are SUCKERS. We (our society) bought the hype. Why? We didn't study our philosophy (e.g., Aristotle). "What is true?" (Certainly not advertising.) "What will make us happy in the long term?" "What MUST we have?" (Certainly not Stuff.)
I'm not saying "Don't buy stuff," but buy stuff while using your good judgment. You can get a phone that does all that iPhone does (minus the special touch interface), and besides, the iPhone interface may not be what you want.
Sometimes "next gen" is just "next" and not better.

I do not like it either when people buy things just because everyone else does. But try and look at things from a different perspective. Maybe they truly like Starbucks coffee and iphones. To be honest, I like Starbucks because it is a convenient way to get a cup of coffee. Try their Mocha Latte, its pretty good. Of course there are other brands/types of coffee that are good or even better.

God, living here in NYC on the train you see all the clones with the white ear buds. I wouldn't by an Ipod even if it didn't suck (which it does) just because I don't want to be one of the pod people (old movie reference intended).
