Yes.
The PARENTS are the lease holders and the ones on the hook, not the kid. The kid can't enter into a contract.

Yes i think it is. I think that many parents lease apartments for children going to college who may or may not be age 18 so they could do it for someone under any circumstances. The parents are of course responsible for the bills even if the agree ment is for the girl to pay her own way. The parents will be held responsible until the end of the lease not until the daughter is 18.

Yes; college students' parents do it all the time. The parents can lease whatever they want; they're resposible for the bills and the condition of the apartment, of course. My niece lived in an apartment in College Station while she was at Texas A&M, leased by her parents, so that she wouldn't have to be in a dorm. She and three lifelong friends shared it, and they all graduated with their degrees in May; my niece and two of the others are going on for their M.S.

a 17 yr old can not legally enter into a contract, but there is nothing to stop his parents from doing it and letting the son use it. The parents are liable though if the rent is overdue or the place gets trashed, etc. and the landlord does not have to agree to let a 17 yr old live there w/o a parent.

I think you mean whether parents can lease an apartment for a seventeen year-old.
As I understand it, if the parents lease the apartment, they, and not the seventeen year-old, will be legally liable.
I believe a seventeen year-old cannot lease an apartment on his own. The law considers him under age, therefore some contracts are not binding.

In a very rare case, it would be okay. Many factors to consider: is this juvenile a high school graduate? Is he or she emancipated from his/her parents?
My guess, however, is no, unless one of them would be living there too.

It would be illegal for the 17 yr. old to do it.
So the parents have to be responsible.
