The confusion may arise from the way maps of the world are prepared. The most common form is the Mercator projection, which shows the SHAPES of the land masses relatively correctly, but because such maps project a spherical surface onto a flat sheet, the SIZE is distorted, with land masses nearer the poles appearing relatively larger than those nearer the equator. That is why Greenland appears to be larger than Australia on some maps: Greenland is much further away from the equator than Australia. Australia is slightly smaller than continental USA, (both a little less than 8 million square kilometres).

Greenland is not a continent. Greenland is considered to be the world's largest island. Australia is a vast continent, far bigger than Greenland. As far as how big, you'll have to do your own homework for that part.

No...Australia has a total land area of some 8,560,000 square kilometers (including the islands of New Guinea and Tasmania...since the definition of a continent includes the continental shelf).
Greenland by comparison is only some 2,166,086 square kilometers...about the size of Mexico. It's part of the continent of North America.

No, it's not, since Greenland has an area of 840,000 sq. miles (2,175,590 sq. kilometers) and Australia has an area of 7,686,850 sq. kilometers (2,967,124 sq. miles) which is 1.363824985 times bigger.
