So where do you set the cut off? 80? 70? 40? This law protects people who are checking IDs from having to judge someone's age before they check the ID. The whole point of checking IDs is to verify ages, instead of having someone judge it by sight. You may think it's dumb, but it keeps ID checkers and their employers out of trouble when the age isn't so obvious. So just deal with it.
