It's no secret that MLB had an extremely low popularity rate immediately following the Players strike in 1995. Shortly thereafter, the homerun race between Mark McGuire and Sammy Sosa revitalized excitement and popularity for the sport. Now, it is generally excepted that all of those results were garnered through illegal, performance enhancing drugs. Once again, the sport lost more credibility as many fans felt cheated and disenfranchised.

My question, if you still love baseball (which you obviously do if you're reading this) what would have to happen, IF ANYTHING, for you to swear off of Baseball forever.

Thanks for reading, and please have some fun with this one...

Another baseball strike by the greedy spoiled players would finally do it for me.

I can't see anything short of death infringing on my love for the game. I never considered giving it up after the strike, or when free agency really took off, and I'm not going to give it up over the steroids issue. I will admit to being bothered by the idea of players "cheating" via performance-enhancing drugs, but it hasn't really impacted my feelings for the game itself.

There are lots of things I'd like to see - fewer teams in the playoffs, a shortened regular season (about 144 games), ballparks that aren't designed to give up tons of cheap homers (Houston, Cincinnati), and a more level playing field when it comes to team spending. Even with all that, however, there's no chance on me giving up on baseball.

I don't know about giving it up forever but I can tell you what made it no fun for me anymore.
When the ball players started worrying about themselves more than the game, holding out, breaking their contracts and crying about the millions they were making.
I know that was a long time ago, but the game has never been the same for me.
On the other side of it was the time Will Clark said that he would play out his contract because he signed it. It wasn't comparable with other 1st basemen but as soon as his contract was up the Giants cut him to save money.

So I would guess that money is the thing that has made baseball less of a sport to go out of my way for.

For ME to swear off baseball forever?
Either Armageddon or the end of time, whichever comes first.
