Theres this guy he isn't allowed to date until 16 and hes what all these girls "dreamed of having" so anyways this guy turned 16 today and when he went to his locker there was basically half of the girls form my grade all trying to ask him out! He turned down each and everyone of them. Isn't that so horrible? Why do they always dress alike, like the same guy, do the same thing? Why do they act like that? My sister told me hormones.

I'll answer part of your question. First off, why many girls dress alike (can't say all) is because if you don't "fit in" you'll be ridiculed and you'll never have many friends. This is something most guys won't understand. When girls bully and make fun of other girls, it's not physical usually. It's mental, psychological, they'll make you feel terrible about yourself and your appearence and they'll convince most of the other people to stay away from you or they'll make your life living hell. One way or another, they'll find some way to get you. This mainly happens from 5th grade to around high school. Most girls get over this stage, but some don't. Okay, that's the first part of your question.

Many girls will like the same guy because they all think that he fits in with the 'ideal' of what the perfect guy is, what the media tells you what a great guy is. And currently, it's based on looks. Or on the otherhand, it could just be that many of them know that he's good looking and they know it'd make their friends/enemies/every other girl in the school jealous. It's how it works. Between a majority of girls, it's one big competition, either you're in, and on top, or you're out and it's not fun being out. It feels like you've only got two or three friends and everyone else couldn't care less.

Now, if you haven't noticed a pattern here, I'll outline it for you. (At least where I'm from) Girls like to fit in, feel like they're part of the group, as most people do. And because of this, they know that some groups are better than other groups. The 'popular' groups often set standards and to fit in with these standards, you have to dress similarly, or have to be similar to the others in some form or another.

Note: I'M NOT SPEAKING FOR THE COMPLETE FEMALE POPULATION. I'm speaking completly from my own experience and observations. For any sort of reference, the high school I attend is mainly a dog eat dog high school as it's one of the top in the nation. Pretty much, if you aren't the best then you'll be going to community college. So, people tend to take on this attitude. NOT EVERYONE does, some are nice. Don't take this as how everyone acts, this may just be my crazy city.

well i think everyone has a point except the cheerleader barbie chick who responded... yuk. anyways i'm yet another one of those "individual" girls who doesn't really pay attention to fashion or listen to popular music, (it's not really popular anymore anyways...) i'm one of the ones who nobody notices. but i gotta tell you, to find the girls who aren't barbies you gotta stop paying so much attention to what the barbies are doing! try talking to girls for a change. pretend like they're a guy. the sweetest thing i've ever heard a guy (my best friend) say to me was "most of the time i totally forget you're a girl"

-.-* Are you a girl? I don't think so. I don't mean to lecture you, but we girls have a lot of things to deal with. Part of it is hormones. The only reason it seems like we all dress alike because we see pictures of perfect models in the magazines and think "If I just dressed like that, I would be as beautiful as her, and ___ will like me!" It may seem like we like the same guy because maybe that guy is the only one who actually pays attention to girls and cares about his appearence at least a little bit. We don't all like the same thing, but we become friends with people who like the same things as us and so it might give that illusion. But honestly, it is also a bit of the guys fault. Realisticly, would you EVER talk to a girl who was overweight? Don't kid yourself here. You prefer girls who are skinny, and have shiny beautiful hair and who don't wear hand me downs, right? Just approach a girl first, don't expect her to come to you constantly.

Girls don't want to be excluded. They want to be part of something and they feel, to be part of a clique, or a group of girls, they all have to be alike, or be just like the leader of the group. Some girls are not like that...I'm not like that...the really special girls are the girls that are just happy with themselves and are who they are, but have tons of friends, because who they are is an incredible person.
Don't worry, I wasn't talking about me in that way, being egotistical and stuff. Lol.

Well, if they act like barbies, treat them like barbies. Rip off their heads, take out their hair, and set them on fire.

Oh, as for the whole fitting in nonsense.

I don't fit in at my school. However, I had a winning record on the varsity wrestling team last year at 185/215/HWT. I was a freshman, and weighed about 179. People don't f*ck with me.

You see, I don't fit in because I like to screw with people. I have a pitch black sense of humor. That being said, anyone who tries to make a fool of me gets lifted up with one arm and thrown. Heh heh...Good times...good times....

Almost everyone at my school is a jacka$$ anyway, boys and girls. I'm the only one with any integrity, ironically enough. Girlwise, they don't like me all that much, not because of how I look, believe me, not all people my size can run 6 miles in 45 mins, but because of the charade I wear like a mantle. They can't see through it, and the way I see it, the only girls I should be interested in are those who can.

Girls do that to feel like they belong. For some reason, sticking together and doing everything the same makes them feel more powerful than if they were alone. Girls love to have cliques and they love to exclude someone from their clique to feel power. I am not really sure why, but it was always that way all through my school years.

BEcause MOST guys these girls want to date tell them in one way or another that THAT is how they want them to dress and behave. If you want an individual then don;t date the "barbies". You'll find the one :)
