I've only told one teacher that they were my favorite.. and I meant it whole heartedly... I never say anything like that unless I mean it..
Sometimes amongst "all the bad teachers" a student (I was one) comes across an exceptional teacher who goes beyond their "job title" to make a student comfortable and willing to learn what they are teaching.. I praise those teachers.. because it is those teachers who sometimes have the power to turn a child's life around for the better...
I went from being an average student into a straight A student because of "that" teacher.. God bless him..
Finally.. to all the teachers out there who sometimes ask themselves if that particular student.. the trouble maker type of student is worth their time and effort.. YOU CAN BE SURE.. that it is.. It's when a teacher takes the time to talk and encourage and yes.. sometimes scold them... those are the teachers who make a difference, and those are the teachers the students remember most..

As a teacher let me just say...we aren't stupid. Being a teacher is not a popularity contest.

It depends on how sincere you are. I really don't believe in compliments unless they are truly meant.
