Absolutely, the value of working hard and taking a person at their word, or being a person of your word, are gone.
Unless you have wealth, or a good hustle, the future does not look too bright.

Perhaps it isn't so much that we lost our values....but maybe take them all for granted. We expect that the conditions under which we live will always be there...not remembering that there is a reason they exists and blood was shed to ensure it....we look at Veterans Day and Memorial Day as paid days off of work....how many people actually appreciate the sarcifices, the history, or the value of what we have? We are also shown, through every media outlet available, that money is the the "proof" that what we do or are is value. It is the monster we have created in ourselves as a culture. I think more people should be asking questions like this, of themselves too.

Do you realize how much money we owe? Do you think the US wants to pay it back with expensive dollars. Everybody in the world knows we are doing everything we can to devalue our currency, so with our foreign currencys in bank we can pay it off on the cheap.
Why do you think other countries hate us. We borrowed a dollar and are giving them back 50 cents.
