The world will automatically get better when we make ourselves better. Look not outside yourself. Neither wait for others to act before you do. Act on your own initiative. Everything begins with our self.

Ask everone you know to believe that it can be a better place. Credere est orare, Orare est cognescere [To believe is to pray, To pray is to know. The cosmic Law of Attraction, and The Law of Projection. It will follow the 100 monkey therum that is mentioned in Dr. Emoto's Hidden Messages in Water. When enough people believe and think that the world is becoming a better place then it will be so. The same message is even in the christian belief when Jesus says with the faith of a mustard seed you can command the mountains. The truth is right in front of us but few can see it. For more info on the Cosmic Laws try reading Conversations With God an unusual dialect. Or the afore mentioned Messages. Or get the DVD What the Bleep Do We Know from Blockbuster. Sorry but you will have to order that one they don't keep it in stock but I highly recomend it and there is the latest hot seller The Secret by Rhonda Byrne. So take some action even if it is just reading a book.

I don't consider that an obligation of mine, so I wouldn't try. You, of course, can take this task on. However, I do have some predictions for you should you try.
Each act of despotism and tyranny has begun from the egotistical position that what we do is in service to others. Even nazism under Hitler was under the belief that protecting the Aryan race was a benefit to the world and to others. Castro in Cuba, in the misguided notion of helping the natives of that island resulted in a 70 year reign. I could go into greater depth and provide more examples, however, you might get the idea.

We need to start with ourselves first. This is the most difficult part ourselves.Only then will we be good examples for our families, neighbors, community ,our country and finally the world. We make the world a better place starting with ourselves first. We have total control over our thinking and actions. The power of individuals that changed the world for good is legendary. For example Abraham Lincoln,Mother Theresa,Albert Schweitzer,Gandhi,Nelson Mandela,M L King Jr,Snoop Doggy and Tupac,to list but a few individuals.

Making yourself is the first step. If you are happy, you will make others happy subconsciously. It may seem egocentric, but you need to find some sort of an 'inner peace' to start making the world a better place.

Mind our own business and take care of those around us first, then venture forth into the world and do for others what they can't do for themselves.

Sometimes the words of the great philosophers say it best....
"To put the world right in order, we must first put the nation in order; to put the nation in order, we must first put the family in order; to put the family in order, we must first cultivate our personal life; we must first set our hearts right." ~ Confucius
