usually they are on the instructions if you buy a kit.
start left to right. bottom to top of next stich. it's an over under pattern. when done with a line or section of color you move right to left. over under that way. top to bottom. you make x's in each square. there are other stitches you will use also. for borders/outlines, half stitches...
see if you can find a book at the library if your pattern doesn't show the stiches you will use.

Choose your Aida cloth according to size stated
for project. Fold cloth length-wise first and crease
then unfold and fold in half and crease. Unfold again and you should have a point in the middle of the cloth. This is where you start. Looking at your pattern select the correct color for the center of your pattern. Unless stated in instructions use two
strands(plys) of the embroidery thread. Cross
stitch is crossing the thread so it forms an X. Come up through one hole and pull thread leaving
1/2 inch tail and push needle down through hole
that is caddy corner from first hole. Push needle
through third hole catching tail in back to anchor
the thread and push needle down through remaining hole forming an X on the cloth. Just follow the pattern. Try this web site. www.
duncancrafts.com. There might be some instructions on there.
