I want to buy the ticket in advance for my dad for his birthday. He really wanted to go the recent one but it was to late for him to purchase it. If know the exact starting date and ending date it will be great. Also where is the best way to purchase the ticket?

The 2008 Summer Olympics are in Beijing, China. The Games run from 8-24 August 2008. It is not possible to buy tickets quite yet that I can find.
The 2010 Winter Olympics are in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. Tickets won't be on sale for that for a while, sad to say.

The 2008 Summer Olympics will be held in Beijing, China from Aug 8 to Aug 24. The 2010 Winter Olympics will be held in Vancouver, Canada from Feb 12 to Feb 28th. The 2012 Summer Olympics will be held in London, England from July 27 to Aug 12. The 2014 Winter Olympics will be held in Sochi, Russia from Feb 7 to Feb 23. I hope this helps a bit. (by the way, the other games have not been decided)

There are Olympics ever 4 years and it alternates from Summer Olympics to Winter Olympics. I don't know how to purchase a ticket, but you might find something on the internet.
