for bottom dwellers CORYS are cute and hardworking. u can have a PLECO too for the control of algae. bigger (bigger here means bigger than angel mouth =p) sized TETRAS will do fine since angel fish come from the same region as tetras. a few GOURAMIS will add interesting character to ur tank. RAMcichlids (one of the few cichlids that is peaceful n live in soft water) will be a gread addition. a pair of them will show you the behaviour of cichlids and they may even breed! SWORDTAILS with their bright colour and activeness is an option too. althou discus also come from the same region it is prone to diseases carried by angel so i wont recommend. and be sure nt to add fin nipper such as tiger barbs! cheeros!

Basically any tetra that won't fit in the adult angels mouth will be fine. Other than that most livebearers will do well as would dwarf South American cichlids like Apistogramma. Cory catfish are good tank mates in this situation as well. Just avoid those fish too larger for the tank or those that are quite aggressive.

Angelfish is one of a few cichlids that are peaceful (except when breeding) and well suited for community life, as long as the tankmate are big enough not to be eaten. Swordtails, mollies, medium sized barbs, corys, dwarf cichlids like apistogramma sp., kribs, and gouramis are some that will make good tankmates.

We have angelfish in a 65 gallon aquarium they do prefer being with other angelfish but mollies work very well and bottom feeders as long as they remain small because the larger ones have being known to start eating the natural slime protection on other fish.
