Use LimeWire 24/7 now for a long long time.
Not just downloading. I have over 150 dvds and 15000-20000 songs and music videos out on LimeWire right now.
Never had any problems.
LimeWire in it's self is not illegal.
**NOTE: Remember that downloading and uploading copyrighted files are illegal if you don't own the copyright or have the copyright owners permission.

61 students at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln were sued by the Recording Industry Association of America for downloading songs from sites such as Limewire and Ares. Hundreds more from other universities were also sued. They were fined and were forced to make reparations. Some were as much as $7.87 per song. At least 500 students nationwide have already made such reparations.

Don't get busted!
People DO get caught stealing "stuff" using P2P filesharing programs such as Limewire, Kazza etc, and face large fines.
People as young as 12 years old.
"The music industry has turned its big legal guns on Internet music-swappers — including a 12-year-old New York City girl who thought downloading songs was fun."
"Brianna LaHara said she was frightened to learn she was among the hundreds of people sued yesterday by giant music companies in federal courts around the country."
"I got really scared. My stomach is all turning," Brianna said last night at the city Housing Authority apartment where she lives with her mom and her 9-year-old brother."

p2p software is NOT illegal, what some people do it it might be. The only why could know who is downloading what is by what ip addresses are accessing the files. A proxy server would hide your IP address. But they could access the logs of that proxy and find out who used it. But that would take too much time and money.

You might get caught, you might not... But, how about supporting the bands you listen to & go to a legit site & pay for the downloads. How would you like someone stealing from you? You are actually stealing & that, my friend, is illegal.
