This may sound silly but I though about some names like Steve, Richard, Thad, Jon because they are names of doctors I have and I think they must have some strong meaning seeing these men are now doctors. Does that sound strange?

A lot depends on the last name but my favorites are Stephen James, Andrew John and Daniel Thomas for a boy and Mary Elizabeth, Suzanne Rose, and Grace Ellen for a girl.
I would try to avoid trendy names with odd spellings. It is hard for a child to go through life with a name that is the same as half of the other kids in his/her class. It is also hard when a parent uses an unusual spelling because then the child's name is always mispronounced.

I think unique (older) names are nice, but try to keep it simple:
Ava, Ella, Emma, Zoe, Jaci, Lydia, Lela, Lily
Middle names ~ Rose, Jewel, Marie, Lynn
Jaxon, Micah, Bryce, Evan, Ethan, Adam
Middle names ~ Lee, Alexander, Joseph, Michael
* I use family names for the middle names it seems to make grandparent and great-grandparents happy!
