they already have a bat foactory that should be good enough. though it does sound like a good idea. but they would have to add 1 other team with it to have an even number of teams.

I do not see an expansion team being added anytime soon. As of right now they do not have enough pitching prospects to support the teams that are in the league now. Several years ago they talked about cutting two teams from the MLB. If anything they would relocate a team but would have to be to a market that would support a team and attend games. The person that said Tampa hit the nail on the head. The average attendance at a devil rays game is similiar to a high school football game.

Mind you...these are only opinions, and you asked, so don't get P.O.'ed at me... Charlotte would be the best choice for an AL team, as the Braves have become the regional favorite around here the last 40 years. In fact, it had a pretty good shot at the Expos and Marlins at one time. If not CLT, then the RDU area, as it is more affluent, has had success supporting the NHL, and will be the largest metro in NC in 10-15 years. I would go for Las Vegas, but the fickle economy would have a hard time suppoting a Major League team and the legalized sports betting would be an issue. THe only real plus would be getting visitors to come out and support their own home teams when they played the LV team (kinda like DC...which is rather embarrasing if you ask me). I can't see any other urban area large or affluent enough to embrace it's own NL team other than perhaps Nashville (as an "all Tennessee" team, like the Titans have become in the NFL). It takes a lot of guaranteed revenue to field an MLB team for 81+ games a season....and money, definitely Nashville has. Portland...they have the Mariners right up the road, and have shown little interest in the past to going any higher than AAA. Forget Iowa or Tidewater, VA...just not going to happen.

There are too many teams now. Louisville is too small of a market to get the next team or the next or the next etc. The League will only approve teams for large markets.

No, I don't think there should be. Teams are losing money because of lack of exciting players. There are not enough of them. And wih teams like the yankees buying them all, there is a lack of the. There should not be an expansion team, but a salory limit like in hockey. That will even things out a little bit.

Unfortunately, MLB rules state that fans must wear shoes in the stadiums at all times, in case of emergency. Since most of the state does not own shoes, the fan base would be far too small to support a MLB franchise. Sorry.

No, because Louisville don't have a large tv market and no one in Kentucky gives a damn about baseball and you know it. Two things that the Kentuckians love are Nascar and Wildcat basketball.

Unfortunatly, I don't really know enough about the place to say, but I will say that if it is a big baseball town, and the people have to travel elsewhere to see live games, why not?
