I have the movie and the book. It's directed by pi director, Darren Aronfonsky. It is about 4 people'd dreams going down in drains because of drugs. It is a great movie with a great message. I recommend it to adults and anyone out there taking drugs or any type of addiction...............
Plus, the musical score was great with CLint Mansell. I have the soundtrack.

Yes, this movies was very powerful!
It about addiction, not just drug addiction. The mom is addicting to her show and her tv....
This movie really depicted the fall of addiction...the end was so strong, I was just sitting there with my mouth open, taking it all in, feeling the pain and seeing it all go down, down down....and thats the truth to it.

Of course... he is a great director. I'd love to see more from him. If you are interested in that theme (consequences of drug addiction), then I reccomend "The Basketball Diaries". The book is different from the movie... the book is much better, but the movie is well-acted and entertaining.

i've seen this movie several times. every actor in this movie does such a great job. i remember watching a commercial for the lord of the rings: the two towers and noticed that they were using the music from "requiem for a dream". it was strange because i connected this with requiem, not lord of the rings.

I love the fact that it DOESN'T follow the tradional movie "Plot Arc" - things are OK in the beginning, get worse in the middle, and return to normal (or get better) by the end...
I can't think of another film that did it this way: Things are OK, then get MUCH better, then come crashing down so rapidly at the end (and STAYING down).

It's a good movie, but the characters seemed so hopeless. It left me extremely depressed.
