i wanna go there to see the volcanoes and was wonderin if its worth the trip and time

Yes, it's worth it. I spent 3 1/2 months there in 1973 and I'd go back like a shot. The only active volcano I know of there is Erebus, near where I was working, in New Zealand's Ross dependency. To go as a tourist is very expensive. Alternatives are to get a job there, apply to The Enderby Trust for a grant to do a research project there, see if you can get a ride on a Chilean or Argentinian navy supply ship, servicing their Antarctic bases, or take a course in Antarctic Studies at the University of Canterbury, New Zealand. The course includes a trip to the Ice. Good luck.

Cold, empty and utterly magnificent. Most of the tourist trips barely get to the Peninsula, and that doesn't show you the real inner continent. Those trips are very expensive and usually come from research grants or employment there.

never went to the Antarctic,but i was station in the Arctic (north) for 8 months with the forces as a helicopter pilot.. way awesome,, saw polar bears and whales and even a great white shark one,, very cool..and colder than you can imagine,, -70 C... thats without the wind,,
