Patrick Henry said that in the House of Burgesses. When he said that, he did not, at that time, mean that he wanted separation from Britain. Most people today assume that that is what he meant. What he wanted and what others wanted at the time was not liberty from but liberty within the British Empire.

I just watched it, the military channel is showing "The Revolutionary War " .
Spoken in March 1775, at St. John's church in Richmond, where the legislature was meeting.
