Everyday find one good thing that has happened and dwell, and draw strength upon that, try to find the positive in everything. Hey I did not get that job, well probably was not right for me and I would of hated it in a week. Be pleasant to people you meet, talk positive, in other words see the silver lining in every cloud. No it's not easy but it can and will change your life, and most important never give up, never let life beat you, nd believe in yourself.

Well save the shrink route as a last resort.
Try descovering what it is about your
self that could take you out into the
world where you can build a repitore
of ideas that may expose you to new and positive experiences. Start locally, if your artistic all the better if not it's not a problem
btw i understand the trust issue and it's not abnormal i my self though married and retired find sollace in my wife and in my grown children plus i'm an artist but
make no mistake i'm as protective of them and that alliance now as i was at 21, i'm basicaly a loner and can live very well in my own little world.
As for the MBA, ok scrap it but don't and i repeat don't scrap education, in fact you may have answered your own question,
talk about a good place to start, so go for something else even if it's just weaving baskets it's an action worth taking, i mean if your turning down degrees with all due respect, maybey next step shoud be a couple of sessions with a good therapist.
Good luck in any case . . . no pun intended

actually it is not that hard, it just takes a little time. Start focusing on important things. Money and material objects are not them. Find people that you care about or people that care about you. Church maybe the place to start. If you try every day to see the positive or the beautiful things around you. they will start to come in to focus. It may start with a quiet cup of coffee in the morning or a stranger noticing the new outfit, something positive. Once you notice one positive thing you will start to notice all the other positives that are already around you.

Anti-Depressants :) They work wonders and help you be less stressed out...
Then when you feel better, life will look different. You can begin to start over, start fresh, and understand more about people. You shouldn't let a few negative experiences with friends make it so you don't trust anyone. Life is tough, but it's even tougher when you feel you can't trust everyone. The more you open up to people, the better chance you have to find your true friends in life.
If you can forgive your past friends for what they have done, and I don't mean start being friends with them again, and you don't even have to trust them or talk to them ever again, but just tell yourself that you forgive them for being human, and promise yourself to be more careful in the future, you will once again be able to start living a happy life again. Most of all you have to forgive yourself.
Trust me, you will feel much better once you do.

I recommend Dr. Phil's book "Self Matters" it taught me how to set some boundaries to keep bad people out of my life. I know its a hard place to be, because I went through a bad relationship and am struggling as you are. Just keep focusing on wanting to be a better person and keep trying new things - reading, taking some time to yourself and it will work out. I have heard daily affirmations work great, but haven't tried them yet. You write positive sentences and repeat them daily as you get ready for the day. Some celeb life coaches swear by them, so try it.

Alot of things can turn you pessimistic. Life, love, friends, job and the world in general. You just have to look at it all as you not being the only one any of this has happened to. Just pick yourself up and dust off and meet everything head on. Don't let the little things upset you, just keep repeating to yourself that you can handle anything coming your way. Look at all the good things around you and that has happened to you instead of all the bad things around you and that happened to you. In short, take inventory of everything good in your life like your health, family, friends, parents...count your blessings.
Don't fall into the pessimistic habits because it's too easy to stay there.

You need to look at the world as something of beauty, I know exactly how you feel but in the end it is up to us to make our lives a little better.
I would start with looking at counseling maybe a therapist even if its just to talk and let your emotions out a little.
You will overcome this and life will become much better, this I promise you. But you must make an effort as well.

Thoughts are meant to be temporary! Not permanent. You are the only one that can change your thoughts? To begin changing them start excercising...get those endorphins going...then make an agreement with yourself that for every single negative thought you have you will match it with at least one positive thought. Then create a positve mantra that you say to yourself all day everyday. This mantra can be anything you want but you have to say it often and you have to believe it. Eventually, over time your thoughts will change.

its not a matter of how its just you have to want to for your self, if you can make your self happy how can you exspect others do it for you, you have to be happy to be alive and exspect the worst and hope for the best, for real just be real and dont stress out over little things or anything for that matter, and o yeah if you dont work in a call center find out about one in your area cause its a really nice chill job to site all day in front of a computer and anwser calls and when not on a call on the internet giving your op. like me.
