we are free, but we must face the consequences of ignorance, intentional or not..
Just because we don't know the truck is coming, doesn't mean it won't run us down if we step in front of it.
Wouldn't you rather know about the truck?

One is basically free to be whatever one wishes, within the law. Some people seem to come by ignorance naturally and it would be a shame to disillusion them. If ignorance is bliss, where does that leave those who are not? If they are ignorant because they don't wish to learn, that is entirely different than those who are ignorant because they haven't the opportunity to learn. Without the option of education, one is not aware of being ignorant.

To be ignorant is not a desirable trait. To be ignorant
is to have no control over one's life. In that sense,
yes we are free to be ignorant to the devices which
can give us a purposeful life. Unfortunately, ignorance
is often implemented as an escapist routine. This is
odd considering that it actually requires more effort
to be ignorant than to be purposeful. The escapist
must spend significant effort constantly attempting
to prove ignorance while the purposeful individual
applies their effort as a means to the goals which
are hoped for.

To a very meaningful degree we of western culture have chosen to be ignorant with suppositions which bind us to ignorance voluntarily.
Understanding not knowledge is the antidote for ignorance. Understanding is impossible to find as long as we adhere to the perspectives of materialism and spirituality. The existence of two perspectives suggests that neither is the correct perspective as there is only one true perspective of reality and understanding must originate from this perspective. Two perspectives guarantee conflict and contradictions which make understanding impossible. This is the game of ignorance we play pretending we know what we are doing.

We are all free to not pursue knowledge, but we can not avoid all knowledge.
One can try to be ignorant of TV commercials by not watching them, or be free of math by not studying it. That said, it's hard to not catch a glimpse of a billboard, and almost impossible to not study basic arithmetic if one is in grade school.
So we are free to not learn, but we are not free to avoid teachings. Until we make an effort to avoid the information.
So ignorance, which is the lack of knoledge, is something we can be free to persue, but there are lots of forces that fight ignorance... So you might be free to be ignorant, but you will meet people and media who will do all they can to make you less ignorant.

Absolutely. Remember the saying, "Ignorance is bliss." People don't have to think about what they don't know. Another interesting thought to ponder is this quote from Sartre:
"We are condemned to be free."

Ignorance is bliss, only if it is ignorance of evil... true freedom to choose what's good and renounce what's bad.
Good luck!
