I'm writing a story and I want a good name for a mafia. What is a good name for a mafia?

Organized criminals often do not refer to crimes directly. They'll say things like "You're going to the place, right, to do the thing?" The real mafia is called 'cosa nostra' by its members, which means 'our thing'.

Try 'The Organization', 'The People', 'The Other People', 'The Club', 'The Society', 'The Unit' - something general like that.

Or if it operates under the guise of a benevolent organization, you could use a front name that masks the mafia's true intent. How about 'Committee for Social Endowment (CSE)'?

In my country there's a (real) black gang called the Poverty Driven Children, or PDC for short.

Hope that's given you a start.
