Don't rely on color to select your horse unless you are strictly going to be showing in 'color shows.' Instead, pick a horse that fits your budget, skill level, uses, and personality.

That being said, many people claim there are personality differences depending on which coat pattern you get. The first horse, which you call a piebald, is called a tobiano pattern in the U.S. where the coat patterns are named according to pattern instead of color, and the second would be called a tovero (carrying both tobiano and overo genes) or a true overo-- it's hard to tell without seeing more of his coat pattern. It is a commonly-held belief that tobianos tend to have calmer, more laid-back personalities than overo horses.

Whether it's true or not is up for grabs, but in my experiences, I've found that there can be a difference. My tobiano mare and other 'toby's' I've ridden tend to be very quiet, laid back, and easy going. The overo horses I've had and ridden have had a little more 'get up and go' to them, and are a bit more high-strung.

The Skewbald Paint is absolutely beautiful.. Caught my attention :)

What are you planning on using the horse for? The Paint would be more of an all around horse.

just so you know, the piebald looks like a gypsy vanner, which are quite small. if you plan on riding him, i would make sure that you fit. the skewbald is pretty, but is put together kind of weirdly. maybe it's just the picture, but he seems like he has really skinny legs and very small feet, but the small feet is common for stock horses...
just based on color, i think the coloring on the skewbald is striking and unusual, and i like it.

Just remember, the more white a horse has on it face, the more problems he may have with sunburn, bugs, fly bites etc etc.runny eyes..there is no end to the probs that white faced horses can have. The white feet can be a problem as well, I have been there. A white bodied horse is also hard to keep clean if you are planning on showing, also white horses are always a potential cancer patient.

Personally. I think eather one will be good for you. But you need to figure out how the horse acts around people. If your looking at rescued horses... They are probably terrified of people. So it depends on what the horse likes, also it depends on how you and the horse act together. Color doesn't really matter.

Color should have nothing to do with the horse you choose. You need to get what's right for you and your needs. Even if you plan to show you would still do better with a horse that is smart and talented then a pretty horse that is a disaster. Trust me I know. I've got a gourgeous black registered QH that is a train wreck. I ended up with him by default. OMG is he pretty but he just doesn't have the brains.

Well piebalds are alot more expensive...
But Its worth it!
I have a piebald of my own named Donivan.
And I love him to death he's so sweet and loyal.
So I would personally choose a piebald just because of my experiance with Donivan.
Hope you make a great choice...

coloring definately does not matter. make your decision based on the training and conformation of the horse, and which horse is better suited to your needs. also, you should try riding any horses you are considering purchasing to see which cooperates and works better with you. it does not matter at all which horse is "prettier."
