All they want to listen to is modern rap with cursing, & their parents don't apporve of that. Is it wrong or ok to introduce children into older music? It's new to them because they never heard it before. But the slow R&B I'm showing them, they like it.

It's a wonderful gift to give children of all ages an appreciation of music from other times. My daughter is 14 and she can sing along with the modern crap, but also knows the Temptations and the Shilites. She knows R&B, she knows Jazz, she knows Blues and Rock&Roll. She is richer for the wide range of musical experience and I think it's a great gift to let kids know they are not limited by what their peers do.

Some Suggestions.

Yolanda Adams - I Believe
Black Eyed Peas - Where is the Love
Beyonce - Irreplacable
2 Pac - Ghetto Gospel
Puff Daddy - Missing You
Fergie - Big Girls Don't Cry
JoJo - Too Little Too Late
Akon - Lonely
Mario - Let me Love You
Prince - Gold

Many of todays songs sample older tunes so I am sure you will be fine playing older R&B

It depends. I would definitely not introduce my son to the song "It's like Romeo and Juliet" or anything by Jodeci or some of those Gerald Levert songs. You know what I'm talking about. =)

But Brandy, Monica, Boyz II Men, Shai, and similar artists should be fine.

Its ok as long as there is no swearing etc.... my kids like the older stuff more because I wont allow them to listen to alot of the music now, as its all about S++ and innapropriate stuff kids dont need to know about

If it doesnt have curse words in it, me as a parent wouldnt mind. Actually, to be honest with you I let my 4 yr old listen to it with me. I listen to everything from 1950 to 2007 ...

Go for it, they like it they may change what they listen to now.

My son is 12...

He likes most of the classic soul/R&B and classic rock.
The language is ok better than rap/crap.
