Another thing you need to look at is the braking power of the vehicle. Most people don't talk about it that much, but I find stopping a vehicle while pulling a trailer is just as important as being able to pull the trailer.

The best answer would be to look at the GWVR rating on the sticker on the drivers door jamb, this will tell you the towing capacity of your vehicle, if it is within the range you need you should be fine. I would still consider installing a transmission cooler that exceeds the cooling of the stock cooler so you won't be buying a transmission soon. Most SUV's and mini vans will pull 2000 pounds easily enough but stopping it may be another story.

Pretty much any light truck or SUV with a V6 or larger engine will tow 2000+ pounds if equiped with the proper hitch. The manufacturer of your minivan will have included the towing capacities in the owners manual. Check that, or check with an authorized dealer for your van. They will be able to tell you exactly what the tow rating is.

Here's a great site for you: Drawtite-hitches.com You will be able to feed your car's information in and it'll tell you what class hitch type is designed for your car. For instance most average sized cars may take a class one hitch which pulls 2,000 total weight maximum. Most SUV's take a class two and the truck type SUV'S can easily handle a class 3 hitch.

As long as your vehicle has a towing package, to keep the tranny cool you should be able to pull it with your mini van. I've pulled my 20 1/2 ft. procraft bass boat with a 260 h.p. motor, that is 2165 lbs. with a mini van. It had a v-6 and a towing package installed on it though. SUV's with v-8s will definitely pull it, make sure you have a towing package. Don't want to be ansewring any questions about a burnt tranny. Happy towing

A Mini-van has a large towing capacity but, YOU must find out the towing capacity of the vehicle, MUST MUST MUST ! Remember, just about ANY car can "tow" anything, it's if the vehicle has enough H.P. and "Torque" to "PULL" the boat UP the ramp when leaving, that's what seperates the "Men From the Boy's" !

The weight of the towing vehicle is more important than the horse power. There are all kinds of things to consider and not enough information in your question to answer it with a good safe answer. Vehicle towing capacity, trailer tongue weight, length of trailer, etc all have to be considered.
