8600GT is the best buy, it can cost only about $100. Just make sure you get one that have DDR3 memory.

the whole range of geforce 8 has directx 10 capabilities. they should be good enough to play the upcoming games. 8800 ultra is the best among the geforce 8 series. Geforce 9 should be coming out soon as well.. do consider that.

the nvida 8000 series are all dx10 supported. the 8800 ultra is the flagship dx10 card from nvidia. ati also has a few dx10 cards, like the 2900 series.
