I really need to know the odds of having one. This is my first pregnancy and OF COARSE i'm worried. I heard that after the baby's heart starts beating the chances of having a miscarriage drops significantly. True? Not true?

The chance of miscarriage drops after the first trimester by nearly 25%. The average 1st trimester miscarriages are 1 in 5. I miscarried my first pregnancy and its not uncommon. Just try to relax and take extra care of yourself. Try not to focus on the negative but rather on the positive. A positive image will generate a positive outcome.

I'm paranoid of having a miscarriage too, and this is my second baby. Get used to it, you'll be forever worried about something in the life of your child :).

If the doctors didn't say anything about you miscarrying, and when they saw the baby and everything looked all right, then you're probably fine.

And kind of, at 12-14 weeks the risk of having a miscarriage drops signigicantly.

The chances of having a miscarriage is greatly reduced after 12 weeks of pregnancy. The best thing you can do is not smoke or drink. Try to take good care of yourself and get on vitamins.

if you have seen the heartbeat the chance of loss falls to less then a 1 in 100 chance. There will always be a risk of loss, I lost a baby at 19 weeks to stillbirth. We had a routine ultrasound, everything was fine, the next week there was no heartbeat. But this is a rarity, most women who make it to 10 weeks will make it to 40!! Congrats and good luck!

Very true! After they get a heartbeat, chances of miscarriage drop dramatically. Chances are you will be fine. First time Mothers have every right to be nervous and anxious. Good luck on your upcoming arrival!

Once you see a heartbeat your chances drop slightly...once you hear it, they drop drastically. But there is always a chance something will go wrong and you can miscarry at any point in a pregnancy.
Once you make it past 16 weeks with no complications your chances are very very low....normally you can hear the heartbeat at 12weeks on a doppler.
