I came off the Depo around 7 months ago and I have been sooo much better without it.
The depo shot caused me to be depressed and made my life hell. I advise ANYONE against it.
As to coming off it, I have only just had my first period, so it took me 6 months to get a period. And this period was really heavy (just to let you know!). 2 weeks after that one and Im having another one. So its a pretty irregular cycle once off the injection, but many docs say it will calm down after a year or so.
Good luck with it all!

I've only been on it for exactly one week and so far no problems. I have been sad lately but I doubt its from the shot, I've been missing someone. Anyways, I did my research before I got the shot and the cons stand out more than the pro. Yea, the shot is 99.7% effective and is very convenient, but the bone density lose and depression and weight gain, just seem bad. If you begin to experience and abnormal symtoms or any of those and they cause a bad effect in your life, then I would suggest getting off the shot and not returning for the next one. I have been making sure that I don't let the symptoms get that bad and I will stop taking it if I forsee any problems.

I've been off depo, which I took for four years, for about a year and a half.

I went to Kariva (pill) in order to ensure my periods come back since I want to have children eventually.

I had a horrible time on depo, I'm so glad I'm not on it anymore.
