My friend from Italy calls manicotti "managot", which can sound like "maragot" if you shorten the "n" sound as you would find in an Italian accent.

Basically, as others said-Manicotti is large, tube shaped pasta filled with ricotta (you may hear Italians pronounce this cheese as "rigot") cheese and baked in an oven with tomato sauce (called "gravy" by most of my Italian friends!).

It's "manicot" which is short for manicotti---pasta stuffed with a mixture of mozzarella, egg, romano cheese and ricotta--topped off with tomato sauce.

They used the term "managot" in referring to manicotti.
