I just went though this. First, try cleaning out the dryer of all the lint from the trap and the hole in the back. If that doesn't work, you might need a new heater thing (mentioned somewhere above), and if all else fails, its time for a new one.

I have a Sears gas dryer that also will not heat at any level. Your statement that it heats when on 'Medium' does sugest you have a control switch issue (you better verify this statement as it confuses the problem). On my dryer, there is only two wires going to the heating unit (red, blue). After shorting the door switch, and turning the dryer to a heating cycle, 120VAC was measured at the blue and red wires. However, the heating element (aka starter) did not glow. The heating element was good since is measured 68 Ohms and glowed when rigged to 120 VAC. The turn off sensor was good since it had continuety at room temp. The only possibility is the relays on the gas regulator. I will replace the regulator tomorrow (provided it is not more than 25% of new unit). The unit is over 15 yrs old and the motor was replaced just last year.

You need a new heating element, depending on the type of dryer, you want to just replace it. First, look in the back of the dryer, there is a place that small clothing items can get stuck. I had a sock in there, and the heating element would turn red, but wouldn't heat up. Make sure it is the element before spending a lot of money. Sears will come to your ome and repair it, and they also have flat rates you can choose from.

Is it an electric or gas? in either case it could be the thermostat, if electric, the element could be burned out, or a bad fuse.
If gas, again, it could be the thermostat or the ingniter, or faulty gas valve.
I would tend to check the fuses first with any fuel source, especially electric dryers.
After reading the additional details, I would be pretty sure it's your thermostat. All of these ideas of changing the heating element are assuming the dryer is electric, and I see no information given to that effect. Again, thermostat !

The heating element has burned out. You need to replace it or get a new dryer.

This happened to me, my husband got on the internet and ordered an element and replaced it, it cost us $50 and the dryer is 15 years old and still working great.

Part 2 of the statement suggests that when "Medium" is selected, only heat comes out...doesn't it? This implies the heater and it's fan are working but the drum doesn't turn in this mode?

If so, it's not the heater element but the selector knob or selecter circuitry.

99% of the problem is the control switch in your dryer is defective as the heating element designed with long life.

Your heating element probably went out. You can buy them at the appliance repair store (in your city) or on the internet. You need to know the model of your dryer.

You can probably fix it yourself for under $50.

Good luck! :)

Ours had two fuses running it, and one had blown, so after replacing the heating element, it still didn't work. Check the fuses first as this is easiest.
