even as an adult right now, i still feel haunted about back then how i've been treated in school.

i remember other kids picking on me but teacher does nothing about it but takes ME to principal office instead but i've haven't done nothing but i only just got picked on. JEEZ!

it's not ok for students to be rude but it's Ok for teachers to be rude.

Man, you have to let it go and not let it interfere with the rest of your life!! You are not the first one who had horrid experiences in school and unfortunately you won't be the last. Take your experience and make it into a positive in your life, don't let it eat at you.

What's past is past, put it behind you and move on. If you have difficulty doing that, consider seeing a therapist for help.

There's a line between being firm and being mean. Having high expectations and enforcing reasonable rules is a part of teaching. Favoring one student over another and being unfair is another. I am firm, not mean, at the beginning of the year so that my students learn what I expect and how to behave. Over the year, I can loosen up some with my discipline because my students know how to act and what is acceptable.
Bullying is totally unexceptable. Nowadays, schools are even tougher on the bully than when I was in school. With school violence on the rise, there is no tolerence for bullying. I would never discipline the child being bullied. They have gone through enough.

I'm sure the teacher didn't see the initial bullying, just your reaction.
You have my sympathy. I too was bullied. Only I was too scared to make a move. Craig used to push my chair (he sat behind me) like 18 inches out (I was in the first row). This happened daily in math class. Kids nearby would just look at me as I died a 1,000 deaths every day.
That s.o.b. Now I would get up and slap his face, and march to the principal's office.
I haven't thought of this in years. There was other bullying, too.
And my son was bullied in school.
It does affect you, doesn't it? For years you have no self esteem, then when you finally have enough distance from those years, you can look back with new eyes, and really get steamed. The injustice of it all.
When you get involved in life, like have kids or whatever, you will get so busy that you honestly will forget about this, too, until one day, when you sign on to Yahoo answers, there will be that question that brings it all back......
Best wishes to another survivor!

The only thing I can tell you is that all teachers are not like this. My son has dealt with lots of bullies and sometimes the teachers wouldn't do anything about it. I as his parent is his advocate. We have taken the school to the state on several violations and we have won. Bottom line is that if someone is doing something that they shouldn't you have to fight it. Don't come back later and say people were mean to me.

Where did you go to school? Now students have more rights than the teacher. If you look at them crossed eyed you the teacher are in the office or worse. Things have changed since you went to school haven't you noticed how disrespectful students are?

I am sorry to hear of you being mistreated in elementary school. I never really had to mean of teachers, that I can remember. But I do remember how awful peers treated me until I was 14 and grew out of my tomboy ways. Life has a kid can be hard. i think it is very important for parents to remember this.

I'm sorry to hear you had such a bad experience in elementary school. I attended public schools in the Dallas suburbs and had my share of punishments (usually for 'talking out'), but I was fortunate in that I NEVER had or witnessed any such situations.

Hopefully, where you went to school has far better teachers today.
