In guild wars when you go to a new place for the first time?

does it always have to download like 1000 files, also i have dsl and it takes forever to go to the guild hall

Yes, when you visit a town or area that you've never seen, the game has to download all the graphics files and stuff for that place.

It's not too bad though and you only have to do it once. You shouldn't notice much DN time with a DSL.
