I am wondering if your second time going through labor was easier? I am considering natural birth this time around (I didn't have a good experience with the epidural), possibly using the whirlpool tub in the birthing suite to help me get through transition and getting out to actually give birth. I am had a very hard first labor and was wondering if the second time was easier? Also has anyone had experience with going natural after getting an epidural? Your thoughts on this would be great. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

My second was easier and quicker, but for some reason the contractions hurt more. I think because it happened so quickly. Both were vaginal with only gas.
With my first I used a pool, shower, bath which all helped greatly it lasted 9 hours altogether.
With my second I waited longer to go to the hospital because I now knew what it felt like and what to expect. So I was alot calmer which I think had a lot do with it.

With my second I tried the shower but it just annoyed me. So I paced instead. Finally I laid down and started falling asleep. Then all of a sudden I felt her head come out so I buzzed for the nurses. She pretty much just slipped out all by herself, I only pushed maybe once or twice. So all in all it took an hour and a half from the time I arrived at the hospital. And she was bigger than her sister.

So for everyone its different, but I think its easier with the second because you have already experienced it. So know what to expect (to a certain degree) and are able to be calmer and more assured in yourself to trust your body to do what it does naturally. And know when is time to go to hospital, when its time to push etc.

I had a natural birth after an epidural and couldn't believe how much better I felt after! I was induced with both my daughters and was expecting to have the same type of delivery the second time round but I was so much more in control.

I'd watched loads of birthing programmes (don't know if this happens to others but I get a little obsessed with them when I'm pregnant!) read plenty of information given by the midwife and I must say had a perfectly pleasent experience.

That's not to say it didn't hurt but to be able to get out of bed and take a bath straight after was lovely, and generally feeling much more in control during labour.

Whilst I was in hospital they were really short staffed so I couldn't get to the delivery suite to get any pain relief, I ended up spending most of my labour on the ward and only got to delivery 30 mins before having my daughter! But all that aside I would still recommend giving natural birth a try, I felt incredibly empowered after having my daughter.

Hope you have an enjoyable time, good luck.

MY first labor was absolutely terrible. I went through 37 hours of pure hell, only to push for four, have my son delivered by a forceps delivery and sent to NICU for a week, my placenta ripped in half, and I had to have a blood tranfusion. THAT was horrible.

SOOO, imagine my fright when I got pregnant with my daughter. The pregnancy was terrible. I'm sure some people on here remember. The labor and delivery was a piece of cake, though. Seriously.

I did the worst of my labor at home, and for risk of it being false labor, I waited to call the doctor. By the time that it hurt so bad that I felt that it WAS time, my water broke on the way out to the car. I got to the hospital, labored for another three hours, and she was here.

If you can do it drug free, do it! There's no shame in asking for an epidural, though, if it gets to be too much. The recovery time is much faster without an epidural, though, in my experience.

Oh, and BTW, with my daughter, I WANTED an epidural, but made it to the hospital too late.

My second birth was easier than my first although the baby was bigger. I had them both naturally but I could tell a difference, I think it helps that you are more prepared the second time around. Labor is usually a lot shorter for second time moms. By the time I got to my fourth she came before I was even on the bed and the midwife was still on her way. ;)

Point one million: Every get together has to discover volunteers to face as applicants. Not sufficient volunteers - no longer sufficient applicants. Point two: Standing in a hopeless ward, despite the fact that fascinating for all of the countrywide events, isn't continually sensible, and, of path, fees cash. Standing manner placing up a deposit, and publishing election fabric. Point three: In 2007 I do not feel any get together is fielding applicants in additional than 60% of all of the council seats up for election. There is a ward close me that is undoubtedly solidly Tory. A few years in the past the Tories could not discover a candidate. Nor would every other get together besides Labour. So he received the seat by means of default. The man was once a conventional historic staunch socialist and it was once relatively ironic that he spend four years representing a prime Tory rural ward. The Tories made certain they publish a candidate four years later. P.S. If you are going to cite Shakespeare you must no less than fully grasp it. "Wherefore" honestly manner "why are you", no longer "wherein are you". Juliet was once asking why Romeo needed to be from a loved ones with whom hers had a feud.

I heard the second time around was easier, however every person is different, my first time was a breeze, very easy and quick under 4 hours labor, so it varies.
Good luck. And congrats.

Wait until you get there - maybe do a birthing plan.

You don't know how it will go until you get there. Good luck
