I think he has the skills to top Nicholson, people on the set say he is terrific as the Joker.

I think he would make a better Joker - if you're referring to the Joker from the old TV series (as well as the comics)...
But as a dark, twisted, psychotic Joker - than Jack will NEVER be beat. That is what made the original Batman movie so great - it was a dark twist on the original (definitely thanks to Tim Burton)

I'm going to reserve my judgment until I see the movie. I think Ledger is a very talented actor, but Nicholson is a legend. It would not be fair for me to judge Ledger's Joker until I see it for myself.
