I think being an AEI board member affords a better lifestyle than that, and my guess is he gets that job in about two months.
Oh, and Babe- you're kidding yourself about that fine. He will appeal his conviction (and the fine) until Bush grants him a full pardon in exactly 18 1/2 months. He'll never pay a cent.

He is free only in the sense that he will do no jail time. He still faces disbarment and a huge fine, both of which he is appealing.
I doubt very much that he feels very free even now.
