The air and electrical lines are connected to the rear of the tractor unit and the front of the trailer. They are free to move as the vehicle turns. Hence, they are suspended lines.

they are I think a swedish design, they come in different ampages, but are standardised on lorries
maybe the designer had a daughter called susie, like the 2 builders who invented the catnic (Catherine, Nicola) (the bit that goes over windows and doors)
