he clipped his wifes nails today..is that supposed to mean anything.. or is it a show off or just simple affection?

It's to show off that she has him wrapped around her finger and your supposed to be jealous, but i would just laugh in his face!

I'd have to say it's TMI: too much information. Who really cares?
Did he also wipe her rear for her? How about brush her hair 100 strokes? C'mon already!
I would come down on the "showing off" side. He is letting you know that he really cares for THIS wife.
