I don't think for a second that Israel would nuke them, unless they nuked Israel.

Israel certainly has the nuclear arsenal including subs to attack Iran. I don't think they would be inclined to enter into a nuclear war lightly and the fact that country x,y,or z is acquiring nuclear weapons technology (or already has it) has become commonplace in this century.
While statements by Iranian officials may have repeated that middle east mantra 'push israel into the ocean', the political situation is slightly more complex than 'what we say we will do'.
First, having nuclear weapons does not mean they will be used. Many countries have them and do not use them. Second, there are countries near Iran that would not take kindly to things like fall out. Third, any official leading Iran has to say things to undercut the local power of religious fanatics while trying to maintain a moderate state. Iran was leaning towards the west prior to Bush's 'there are our enemies' speech. Why you would tell people in advance is beyond me.
There's a lot between Iran and Israel and not that much for Iran to gain by striking Israel. The Israeli government is under internal siege with resignations, allegations, and what is starting to look like the annual, 'it's a hot summer let's have a war' campaign propaganda starting up again.
I think Israel will do the minimum required to defend itself and a nuclear attack across a few countries into one with nuclear capable neighbors is not even close to a sound decision or the minimum. If I was representing Israel I would hope for a diplomatic resolution so that I didn't have to resort to a war that left my neighbors angry and willing to attack me regardless of the cost.
Obviously, for historical reasons Israel is unable to broker a peace deal on their own behalf. Basically, I think it requires a bit of black ops negotiating to keep a moderate in power in Iran instead of allowing it to destabilize to the point that a fundamental nutcase gets control and pursues nuclear weapons on his own.
What needs to be separated in the debate are people, religions, and nations. What is publicly said and privately believed in this region are two very different things.
I don't believe that Israel will nuke Iran over the possibility that Iran acquires the technology to make nuclear weapons, an atomic bomb, or depending on who you believe more nukes.

I don't know if you're aware of the time, back in the '80's, when Iraq (Sadam Hussein) had contracted with the French to build a nuclear reactor in Baghdad, and the Israelis were rightfully worried that Mr. Hussein, or shall I call him the late Mr. Hussein, would use his new reactor to wreak havoc on Israel. Then, in their anxiety, and well before the reactor was completed, the Israeli government planned a truly top secret attack plan to fly into Baghdad, bomb ONLY the nuclear plant in the middle of the city, and leave. Absolutely no one, not even the pilots of the recently purchased American fighter jets that had originally been sold to Iran until the Shah had been deposed violently, knew what their target was that they were training so diligently to hit. Then, on the planned day, the Israeli pilots were told what their target was, and, scared as could be, they flew in to Baghdad on a Saturday or Sunday, at a time when the fewest people possible would be working at the reactor, just recently completed, and cleanly and clearly bombed it into history, and killed only the few Iraqi's who were working at the site and one Frenchman who was there, and left, returning to Israel totally unscathed. The U.S. and U.N. publicly chastised Israel for it's unbelievably secret attack on the nuclear plant in Baghdad that day, but Israel equally said, publicly, "We have nothing to be ashamed of." Later, during Operation Desert Storm, Israel was secretly thanked by top level Washington governmental personnel, saying that if Israel hadn't done what they did, Operation Desert Storm wouldn't have happened so easily.
So, as to your question: Would Israel attack Iran if they felt threatened? Count on it. Would they use nuclear material? They're too smart to do that. They can completely shut down another government / military with their precision and secrecy. They're GOOD!! And the U.S. knows it and is glad.
God Bless you, and God Bless Israel.

Of course we saw that Israel would not hesitate to strike first and we also saw what happened last summer in the war with Hezbollah...Now if a conventional war would probably be accepted by the so called "international community" I doubt that nuking a country, any country ,would be accepted as easily...
Iran is not doing anything illegal. They have signed the NNPT and as long as no one can prove that they are building nukes there is absolutely no reason for sanctions,so a military strike is out of discussion...

The old Israel would have bombed Iran's nuclear facilities already, while they had the option of using conventional munitions.
The new, liberal, pantywaisted, spineless, emasculated Israel is probably going to have to end up using nuclear weapons to defend itself--and even then, it may not do so.

I think living in the U.S. we are completely blessed to feel safe until 9/11 happened.
How many times has Israel had attacks, bombs, etc on them... I think they have to take that proactive position.
The folks in Iran are crazy... I wouldn't trust them either...

Yes, Israel does have nuclear capabilities, but I doubt they would strike first.

I would say yes. When you are as small as Israel you have to hit first and hit hard, you may not survive otherwise. Something is going to happen in that area to start another war, we are just waiting on what right now. Say hello to WWIII.
