You can not use your dialup modem to network your computers.

If you want to network your computers and share your internet connection, the purchase a cheap router off of ebay and connect them and your adsl modem to it.

Hope that helps

If you are getting DSL - that is the easiest and best way to network your computers. You will need a wireless router (available anywhere - Walmart, etc. for 50 - 100.) I am assuming that your laptop is wireless capable. If not - you will need a wireless card for it - around 30-50.
Your desktop will be connected via Ethernet cable to the router.
You can use the Network Setup Wizard available in Control Panel to set up your network or look at the many tutorials on the internet on this subject.

I think the best way is that you put them in a LAN and you just need 2 LAN Card (if you dont have them on board), then make your PC as server -just like coffeenets- and connect to the internet with the server PC and another one can be online too

The best way is get a router. If wireless then you can roam the house with the laptop. From there you will need to set up a home network with a workgroup. If you want to exchange files, you will need to share them.
