Well with alot of animals, if you touch the babies, or get too close, and the mother animal smells you on it, it will diown the baby, becuase it feels that it is contaminated. thats why you cant pic up a baby bird that fell out of the nest, becuase the parents will kill it.

That is a myth. The instinct to take care of the young is so strong, the mother will come back and take care of the babies, even with human smell. Put them back in the nest and stay away! Mother bunnies only return to the nest just before dawn to feed the babies. She does not stay with them.

well your parents are right because i have 20 birds and birds are the same as rabbits and all the other animals because if you get close to to the Bunnie nest the mother will hesitate and will feel that you will come back so she abandons her baby bunnies. You wouldn't want that to happen because then who would be the one to feed them. My dad and I rescued from our backyard 2 baby doves because the mother abandoned them because of a girl got too close and scared the mother bird. what if we didn't know how to take care of them. They wouldn't of been able to survive. The best thing is to look at them with binoculars from a distance

Rabbits are nervous by nature and if the Mother Rabbit feels threatened she could abandone the nest and the babies would either starve or become food for any feral animal. It is best to just stay away from the nest. It is possible that the mother rabbit will move the babies to another location as well.

It's because of the smell of humans, they will either eat the babies, or ignore them. As long as they're living, the Mom has been feeding them. If the kits go more than 24 hours without being fed, they go downhill very fast. If you haven't seen the Mom, don't worry. They only nurse their kits 1-2 times a day, and that's about the only time they're next to them. However, if you just look at them it's not gonna do anything.

THAT IS NOT TRUE! Tell your parents that if u dont see the mother for at least 2 days call a vet and or wildlife rehabilitator or they will die.

animals hate human smells. Thus the bunnies will starve and die.
