I was scared out of my mind of clowns as a very small child, and so never developed a fondness for them ... or mimes, for that matter. Most of my grandkids are a little freaked by them, as well. Maybe we just don't have the clown appreciation gene.

I was 13 when the Barnaby Circus came to town and my step ma made me go. I felt the clowns were stupid and I sat there and could not laugh. He stopped and looked up at me and made me come down in the ring. He made me give him a peck on the cheek. It took a minute and everyone laughed. The next day in school kids said, hey I saw ya at the circus!
Clowns are just strange, sometimes funny, and sometimes scary too! He had my attention and I will never forget!

when I was a child I thought clowns were very funny. Now I think the same but I realise also that to some children that could be scarey which is rather sad. The good ole circus clown who always fell out of his little car used to get me laughing everytime.

1. Clowns are supposed to be stoopid! LOL!
2. Scary? Pennywise the Clown. (And he's the ONLY scary clown!) "We all float down here Georgie boy!"

no, but it makes me feel sorry for them because they look like they can't get a job elsewhere.
