I would place them as an important part of a complete diet for barbs. Flake should be the staple, but things like blood worm, daphnia and mosquito larvae are important food items for your fish.

Bloodworms are a main food for fish. Tiger barbs should be fine eating them, but variety is always a good thing.

a treat. flakes or commercial food should form the staple diet for fish due to the complete nutritions they provide, althou i must admit all fishes look forward to live food more than commercial food. u can include live or frozen treats like bloodworms and brine shrimp so your fishes will be healthier and happier and live food can even induce breeding =) personally i feed my fishes pellets in the day followed by bloodworms/frozen food in the evening. variation is the key to spicing up life izznt it =) cheeros!

Treat. They get in the gravel and foul your water. Feed few at a time. Fish need a balanced diet and bloodworms only do not provide what they need.

You can alternate between regular tropical flake or pellets feedings, and Blood Worms you can feed them 2-4 meals per week.

They are not a complete diet. You will want to also be giving them tropical fish food.
